4-tägige Genießerreise in Kleingruppen Von Kapstadt nach Hermanus und Cape Agulhas mit Weinprobe in Swellendam.
Spring in the Western Cape is the time when the awesome Southern Right, Humpback and other Whales visit our Coast and this event happily coincides with Local Wine Estates launching their Export Wines for the up-coming Season. The Tour allows our Guests the ideal opportunity to enjoy both these festive Events, whilst visiting Cape Agulhas, the Southern most point of Africa, and the point where the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet. Our Tour starts with a visit to a Wine Estate in the Stellenbosch Wine producing Region, our Route takes us all along the False Bay coastline, visiting the historical fishing villages found along the way and looking out for Whales, before heading inland to visit superb Export Wine Estates. Southern Right Whales come from the cold Antarctic waters to the warm seas around our Coast to mate and to give birth, arriving here about July and departing again in November. They come really close to the Shore and in certain places near Hermanus, Gansbaai, Cape Agulhas and Witsands, it is not unusual for them to come within 5 to 10 metres from the Rocks. The Overberg and Southern Cape Region is also known as the “bread & fruit basket” of the Cape because the soil and weather conditions are so ideal that Wheat, Fruit and Grapes grown here, are of the very best quality. During the Tour we visit a number of Wine Estates and Fruit Farms, giving our Guests the very best chance to enjoy the fine Wines, Fruit Juices, etc that makes this Region so perfect for a Tour of this nature. Opportunities are available to suit all interests, ranging from “laid back” lovers of Flora & Fauna to radical extreme adventure seeking junkies. As the scenery is spectacular, you cannot forget about your camera. All Tours are adapted to suit the requirements of each group and each Itinerary is adjusted accordingly. As a result of various factors, beyond our control such as seasonal weather patterns, we may adjust each Itinerary to accommodate these changes, with the least of inconvenience to our Guests.
NB: Guests are reminded that Whales are Wild Animals and we simply cannot guarantee that we will see Whales on every Tour, but we will do everything possible to ensure that our Guests get every opportunity to see them.
DAY 1 This morning we depart Cape Town and to get into the “spirit” of the Tour, we visit an Export Wine Estate in the Stellenbosch Wine Valley for a Cellar Tour and Wine tasting, before our route takes us along the Western Coastline of False Bay, exploring historical fishing villages and whale spotting along the way, before heading for Hermanus, the “Whale Capital” of South Africa, where we overnight. A traditional South African “braai” is enjoyed for dinner.
Touring Time: Full day Travelling Time: 6 – 7 hours Accommodation: Overnight in Hermanus. Meals included: Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
DAY 2 Following an early breakfast, we head for the Old Harbour and the cliffs surrounding Hermanus, looking out for Whales, until late morning, when we head inland around the Hermanus Lagoon. A visit to the Birkenhead Brewery near the village of Stanford, for a Beer tasting, followed by a visit to the nearby Dairy for an optional Cheese lunch, which takes care of our appetite, before we return to the coast near the seaside village of Gansbaai and De Kelders. Late afternoon, we head inland again, making our way to Cape Agulhas, the Southern most point of Africa, where we overnight. We enjoy dinner at one of the excellent seafood restaurants found in this quaint village, while watching the sun set over the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. Touring Time: Full day Travelling Time: 5 – 6 hours Accommodation: Overnight in Cape Agulhas. Meals included: Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
DAY 3 After breakfast, we start exploring the Region. No visit to Cape Agulhas is complete without visiting the “meeting” point of the Two Oceans, followed by a climb up the Cape Agulhas Lighthouse. The climb is distinctly exciting, taking us up really steep ladders up the Lighthouse Tower, but at the top we are treated to spectacular views across the sea, an ideal Whale watching spot. Following a walk along the beach and a visit to the Harbour to look out for returning fishing boats, we resume our journey, turning inland into the rolling Wheat fields of the Overberg Region. In the Swellendam Region, we visit two or three choice Wine Estates, enjoy lunch in Swellendam, the fourth oldest Town in South Africa, before returning to the coast, near Witsands, situated in the St Sebastions Bay. The awesome Breede River, with its source in the mountains above Ceres, more than 270 kilometres away, meets the sea at this point, creating spectacular scenic images. The Southern Right Whale “mom’s” just love this setting and use this Bay as an ideal “nursery” for their young Calves, in so doing giving our Guests a unique opportunity to view this amazing spectacle. For those Guests who wish to enjoy a 60-minute flight in a light Aircraft, taking them directly over the Sea, this optional Activity can be arranged. We explore this pristine natural environment for the rest of the day and overnight in Witsands. A traditional South African “braai” is enjoyed for dinner. Touring Time: Full day Travelling Time: 3 – 4 hours Accommodation: Overnight in Witsands. Meals included: Dinner, Bed & Breakfast
DAY 4 After an early breakfast, we head for a walk along the beach or along the rivers edge, looking out for Whales, Seals and Dolphins and a host of Bird life, until late morning, when we commence our return journey to Cape Town, along the N2. We stop off at the historical villages and a Wine Estate en-route, travelling through the rolling wheat fields of the Overberg, arriving in Cape Town for drop off, early evening.
Touring Time: Full Day Travelling Time: 6 – 7 Hours Meals included: Bed & Breakfast.
